Hi there! I am Dr. DeAnna Collins, DNP, FNP-C.

I am passionate about providing resources to those that have chosen nursing as their career. My desire is to help you accomplish your nursing career goals. Additionally, your nursing journey will be supported and enhanced as I will guide you with my diverse nursing knowledge and experience.

The Nursing Journey
​
I have over 11 years of nursing experience. I started my nursing journey in 2010 with my ADN. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, receiving my BSN, and a year later, I began nurse practitioner school. In 2017, I graduated from Alcorn State University's Family Nurse Practitioner program receiving my MSN. In 2021, I graduated as the inaugural class for Alcorn’s Doctor of Nursing Practice.

As a registered nurse, my experience consisted of med-surg, orthopedics, urology, post-trauma, and oncology. I am currently practicing as a board-certified family nurse practitioner in primary care. I really enjoy practicing in rural healthcare. I am Adjunct Faculty for a local University as well.

Knowing when it is time to elevate.

Nursing can be both rewarding and stressful at times. However, in my experience, the good has always outweighed the bad. This is because I knew when I needed to make changes in my career to prevent further burnout. Unfortunately, nursing burnout is not an uncommon trait. In fact, our passion and dedication to our clients and peers can sometimes become overwhelming. I didn't let the stressors of working 12-hour shifts in a hospital setting bring me down, but I used it as motivation to fulfill my childhood dream. Thus, I started my journey to becoming a nurse practitioner.

I have always naturally been a motivator and mentor to others. I have shown this through precepting nurses and mentoring aspiring nurses and nursing students. As your success coach, I will integrate an evidence-based theory to help in your personalized nursing journey. In addition, I help my clients become more organized and aware of available resources to assist in academia or career goals.
The unique aspect of nursing is that it has an abundance of career opportunities for you.
